Here at Bengtson’s pumpkin farm, we’re busy. After all, we’re less than 24 hours from opening the doors to the latest and greatest Pumpkin Fest ever.
When we say greatest, we mean it. We have more attractions, more food, more fall activities, more decorations, and plan to host more people than ever before. Chicagoans and families from all over Northern Illinois will be here, thousands and thousands of them over the next six weeks. The news is likely to show up, as it has many years in the past. It’s going to be epic!
So what’s been happening as we get our pumpkin farm ready to accommodate so many people and make everything go a smooth as possible?
Hiring the Best
The post office and retail stores aren’t the only types of businesses that need seasonal help. We hire a lot of people during the six weeks we’re open; the work is fun, the people are great, and the open air is good for the lungs! There might still be positions open (or some might become open), so if you’re interested in working at Bengtson’s Pumpkin Fest, check out the latest info right here.
Filling the Corn Box
Our Jimmy Cracked Corn Box is one of the most popular fall activities for kids we have here at Bengtson’s. It’s essentially a ball pit of corn kernels! Filling it with fresh seed corn is one of the most interesting parts of working on our pumpkin farm. Check out the video at the bottom of this page to watch it being filled.
Prepping the Animals
We’ve got quite a few animals working here on our pumpkin farm. Pigs are getting in shape for the pig races (!), animals of all kinds are being groomed to be pet in the petting zoo, and camels are getting ready to be ridden. It’s a big job!
By the way, if you’re stopping by tomorrow on our opening day, be sure to “Share and Save.” All you have to do is “share” or “check in” on any social media, letting people know where you are and what you’re doing (and making them envious as well). When you do that, you’ll save $5.00 and get in for just $9.99!
See you soon!
